Welcome to Our New Website

We’re excited to share a refreshed look and improved experience that celebrates the rich history and spirit of the Bedford Road Invitational Tournament. Explore decades of memories, highlights, and tournament traditions all in one place. See below for the evolution of our website.

2003

Our first website launched in 2003, developed by Victor (Vic) Pankratz. At the time, Vic was responsible for the Bedford Road Collegiate website and wanted to create a dedicated online presence for the tournament. The original site contained only basic information such as results and cheerleading competition details. It was built using Macromedia (later Adobe) Flash, which allowed for visual effects and transitions that were considered highly advanced for that era.

2004-2010

In 2004, Vic brought on additional help from student Drew Betke, along with SPSD IT employee Rob Merritt. Together, the team created a website packed with new features including video highlights, photo galleries, historical records (awards, teams, and history), and even a live online audio broadcast.

That same year, we began broadcasting during BRIT 2004 when a team from Australia participated. Our goal was to share the BRIT experience with family and friends who could not attend in person.

In 2008, we introduced our first online live-stream three years before YouTube launched its own streaming platform. Over time, we expanded our streaming efforts using Ustream, Justin.tv (later known as Twitch.tv), and YouTube.

Additional technical assistance during this era of the website included alumni Sean Booth, Twyla Toews, as well as numerous students.

2011–2017

By 2011, our tech team, including BRIT Chair Brad Clauson, Vic Pankratz, and Drew Betke, collaborated with Beagle Productions to create a new, modern website. This version allowed faster updates and showcased a greatly expanded collection of historical information.

This website marked the beginning of our social media presence beginning with Facebook in 2011, and later Instagram, and Twitter (now X). We created a BlueSky account in 2024 as a number of social media users parted ways with other social platforms.

This version of the website was also maintained by Eric Beck, Kordel Prout, Rae Lehmann, Chase Peri, and a number of grade nine to twelve students.

2018–2024

In 2018, we once again took development into our own hands. Led by Eric Beck, a key member of our tech crew, the new website was built from the ground up just in time for the tournament. Over the next five years, the site continued to evolve, adding new features such as detailed team write-ups and a live game scoreclock.

We were thrilled to continue working with Drew Betke, and Kordel Prout whilst bringing on talented individuals Blake Kemmer, and Ollie Franko.

2025

Today, in collaboration with Jason Howard of PageSmack, who led design and development, and with planning and project management by Drew Betke, we proudly launch our new website. Designed for a modern browsing experience on both desktop and mobile, the site includes an interactive draw, full-size high-quality images, and will soon contain an extensive archive of historical content.

Your team for 2026 include Drew Betke, Kordel Prout, and Blake Kemmer. We look forward to bringing on and mentoring technically motivated students before, during, and after the BRIT 2026 tournament.
